Responsibilities:
The successful candidate for this position will:
- Administer screening tools to determine students’ level of English proficiency upon enrollment
- Provide systematic, explicit, and sustained language instruction, and prepare students for general education by focusing on academic language while also attending to social instructional language.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to promote English Language Development in all academic classes.
- Support general education teachers in differentiating curriculum to meet the needs of ELs.
- Provide professional development to staff on instructional strategies to support ELs in the classroom.
- Assist ESL teachers in developing ESL curriculum district wide.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources geared toward the needs of ELL students
- Understand current DESE guidelines on the education of EL and communicate information to colleagues.
- Maintain accurate and complete records
- Collect data on student performance to drive instruction and monitor progress.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and effectively communicate with families.
- Assist the administration of ACCESS Testing to students.

Qualifications- Required:
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree.
- Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in English as a Second Language 5-12
- Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
Qualifications- Preferred:
- Education: Hold a Master’s degree
- Experience working in an urban school district
- Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction
- Experience in co-teaching within the inclusion setting
- Experience conducting academic achievement evaluations and writing IEPs
- Strong progress monitoring skills

- Candidates are subject to background checks including, CORI clearance, and fingerprinting
This position is a part of the FRCSTA bargaining unit. Salary begins at $50,000 and will be commensurate with experience, including professional years of service in a school and educational attainment. Benefits include offer of medical, dental, employer-paid life insurance, 2 personal days, and 403 b with match. |
