One of the exciting aspects of working here is our student diversity. Drawing 1,700 students from our large geographic region, we bring students and families from various backgrounds, ethnicities, and experiences into three vibrant school communities (Elementary, Middle & High School). Our families speak over 20 languages and live in more than 20 sending districts. With diversity as one of our greatest strengths, it drives positive student learning and life at our school. The Middle School at FRCS serves students in grade 5 - 8. Our goal is to provide students with rigorous academic curriculum, a safe and positive learning environment, and a school where all students feel welcome and have a strong connection to the school community. Job Summary:
School Based Building Substitutes are those teachers assigned to a single school to cover teacher absences for ten days or fewer per absence. Assignments at the school may be subject to change daily. These positions report directly to the school principal and receive evaluation and coaching.
Responsibilities:
- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
- Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria
- Participate in all school based professional development days and sessions
- Other duties as assigned by the school principal

- Experience teaching in an urban school district
